Our Buff Orpingtons

Buff Orpingtons
We strive to produce birds that meet the standards for their breeds
and to continue to improve the breed.
Our main egg and meat producers are our Buff Orpingtons.
The following is stated on Wikipedia, and these traits are what drew
us toward this breed.
"Orpingtons lay about 175 to 200 medium to large light-brown eggs a year.
They do not stop laying in the winter.
It was said to at one time lay as many as 340 eggs per year.
This decline in production was due to breeders selecting for looks over utility.
The chickens also get large, so they are suited for eating also.
They are also great mothers.
All of these qualities make them perfect Homestead chickens."

I hatch chicks most of the year, so if you are
interested in getting some chicks or
your birds please email me for availability.
I try to keep the "Available" page up to date, but
for the most up to date information it
is best to send an email.
Hatching eggs are available from my birds.
